Weekly Bulletin - January 22nd

Cornerstone Church,

This past Sunday in our study of Exodus 1, we saw the midwives of the Israelites refuse the order of the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt.  Fearing the people of God, Pharaoh ordered all the children to be killed.  We read in Exodus 1:17, "But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive." The fear of God superseded fear of man!  It is rare in America that we face such decisions, but around the world this is all too common.  Just this past week a man was fined for praying silently, in his head outside an abortion clinic in England.  We should pray for the persecuted church and we should spend some time considering the boldness of other believers.  What would it take to stop us from praying?  What would we be willing to suffer for the Gospel of Christ?

Praise and prayer are an integral part of our Wednesday night youth gatherings, but this week we wanted to devote a special time specifically for this. Have your teens join us for an evening of song and prayer before the Lord. We held our first event like this in the Fall last year and loved it, so we are excited to have this again.

Join us for time of processing and working through the loss of a loved one. This week we will be continuing with our topic of "Journey though Grief" Part 2. We hope this can be a blessing to you.

On Sunday, January 29th we will be holding our annual Vision Meeting. This will be an opportunity to look at this last year and see what the Lord has done through our church, and look ahead to this coming year and all that we hope to accomplish. We will also celebrate communion with each other, and encourage you to join us as we remember Christ's work for us on the cross.

Every year we hold a Chili Cook-Off and Bake Auction as our primary fundraiser for Youth Summer Camp. We have been holding this event for over 10 years now at Cornerstone and it is truly a signature event for us. Please join us as we fellowship over tasty chili, and raise money for our students as they prepare to head out for another life-changing week at summer camp. We hope to see you there!
