No Greater Joy!

No Greater Joy!

3 John 1:4-5 (NKJV) I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers…

What a statement!  “No greater joy” is the kind of thing that we would think would be associated with great worldly accomplishments like our children growing up to become president of the country or make it to the big leagues. John, who was single and did not have natural kids, understood his disciples to be his children in the ministry. His highest aspiration for them was to walk in truth. Let me say that again. His HIGHEST ASPIRATION for them was that they walk in truth.

We wish a lot of things for ourselves and for our families. We wish success in finance and fame.  We desire influence and popularity, but walking in truth supersedes them all. Gaius, one of John's converts made the grade. He accomplished exactly what John desired. What any spiritual parent would desire. He walked in truth and faithfully served both the church and the community.
