Weekly Bulletin - June 4th

Cornerstone Church,

Creepers!

Jude 1:4  For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

It gives me the creeps just to think of it! Somehow, unbeknownst to anyone, a sneaker and creeper can get past all the barriers and locks. They can enter the home or sanctuary with evil intentions. Jude warns that the church is not immune to creeps.

Creeps have a M. O., A Modus Operandi. This routine behavior makes them obvious to anyone who is watching. First of all they “turn the grace of our God into lewdness.” Lewdness here could also be understood as licentiousness. The license to unrestrained sin. Where these creeps give themselves away is that they give license to sin that is expressly forbidden in God’s Word. Beyond that they use God’s grace as a cover for their license to sin. God’s grace is abused when used in this way. In fact, when applied in the excusing of sin, God’s grace is misunderstood and misapplied. (Romans 6:1)

Secondly, creeps deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Creeps deny the Lordship of God and Jesus over their lives. Their desire to lead lives of lewdness causes them to throw off any accountability to God and Christ. For these creeps it does not matter what God desires of their lives. They are going to live their own way, led by their momentary lusts.

Creeps are marked for condemnation. Long ago they were recognized and marked, they are set apart for condemnation. Though they exist in the home and in the church, creeps do not escape the watchful eye of our Lord. They will meet their chosen end. In the meantime we must be alert and aware of their existence and of their methods. We must call them out from the shadows and into the Light of His Word.

Summer Lunch Box Program

Hey Cornerstone! We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with a local ministry called Well of Hope. They are a Thrift Store and food bank that work with the local community to provide resources for the underprivileged, and this summer they are looking to provide meals for kids who will be going without school lunches.
Our goal is to help feed 100 kids for ten weeks over this summer. If you would like to help, you can sponsor a child’s meal for a week by donating $35. You could also support a child for the whole summer by donating $350.
If you would like to join us in supporting this Summer Lunch Box program, or would like to know more about Well of Hope's ministry, please use the links below!
We’re excited to minister to these children and families this summer, and hope you’ll consider joining us in this!

Coming Soon

Youth Group - Wednesdays @ 6:30pm

Youth Group is a great place for students from 6th-12th grade to plug in. Every Wednesday we have games, worship, and most importantly we dive into scripture. Please join us this Wednesday, May 31st, as we continue our study in the Gospel of John.

VBS 2023 - July 17-21st

This year from July 17th to 21st we will once again be holding our VBS for kids from preschool all the way up to 5th grade! Our theme is Kingdom Keepers, where the kids will learn about how to put on the full armor of God. It will be a fun week of worship, games, snacks, crafts, and more!
We are currently looking for volunteers to help us make this a memorable week for the kids. There are a variety of ways to get involved and use your gifts and abilities, from snacks, to game time, to being a leader or assistant to a specific age group of kids, and more.
If this is something you would like to do, please use the button below to register for volunteering, or reach out Jessie Rector, our Children's Director, at jessie@cornerstone.place.
Thank you!
