Cornerstone Church,
Live by Faith, Love by Faith, Laugh by Faith
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 (NKJV) 1 Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days. 2
Give a serving to seven, and also to eight, For you do not know what evil will be on the earth. 3 If the clouds are full of rain, They empty themselves upon the earth; And if a tree falls to the south or the north, In the place where the tree falls, there it shall lie. 4 He who observes the wind will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap. 5 As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything. 6 In the morning sow your seed, And in the evening do not withhold your hand; For you do not know which will prosper, Either this or that, Or whether both alike will be good.
We walk by faith, not by sight.
Whether you are a merchant who puts grain on a ship or a farmer who puts grain in the ground, you must do so by faith. In fact, everything in life is a matter of faith. Though you may be tempted to look at the weather and decide that it is too windy to sow your seed, or too much of a chance of rain in order to reap; you cannot let the uncertainties of life keep you from living. Life is to be lived by FAITH!
Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Just like living, love also takes faith. Casting our bread upon the water is symbolic of giving of ourselves (bread) to the masses (waters). Life is about living, but also loving, and the objects of our love for God end up being His children. Loving by faith calls for us to UNSELFISH GENEROSITY. Sharing our Time, Talent, and Treasures with the people around us is faith lived out through love. UNCERTAIN GENEROSITY requires faith because giving does not always come with guarantees. We never know what tomorrow holds so we must practice opportunistic generosity. Loving by faith requires UNRESTRICTED GENEROSITY. When we love by faith we do not limit our love. The parable of sowing and reaping teach us of the farmer who scattered seed. Some fell on the path, some fell on the rocky soil, some on the good soil. He did not discriminate.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Because we have chosen to live by faith and love others by faith, we get to LAUGH BY FAITH! The joy of life is accomplished by faith. We do not hold back, we live by faith, we love by faith, and we find joy along the way.
