Cornerstone Church,

How to Repair Despair

Ecclesiastes 2:17-23  17 Therefore I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me, for all is vanity and grasping for the wind. 18 Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me. 19 And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity. 20 Therefore I turned my heart and despaired of all the labor in which I had toiled under the sun. 21 For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, knowledge, and skill; yet he must leave his heritage to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil. 22 For what has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart with which he has toiled under the sun? 23 For all his days are sorrowful, and his work burdensome; even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity.

Solomon hated his life. He had it all and all did not satisfy. He had scientifically studied the idea of a fulfilling life only to be met with one dead end after another. He hated life because all of life apart from God is meaningless. The billionaire and his dog both go to the same grave.

Solomon knew the truth. That everything one could accumulate in one’s life is eventually left to those who will squander it. Solomon expanded Israel to its greatest influence, its largest borders and increased its wealth beyond that of even King David. Yet immediately upon his death, his son Rehoboam raised taxes, increased forced labor and divided the kingdom of Israel from 12 down to just 2 tribes.

Solomon learned a valuable lesson. A life lived apart from God is temporary, empty, and meaningless. A life lived with God is a life lived for God. A life of faith turns despair to hope.  It brings about meaning to the meaningless. Purpose to pain. Repair your despair by living your life for the only One who matters!

Summer Camp 2023

Good morning Cornerstone!
The week has finally arrived! All of the buildup will pay off tomorrow when we get to the Church bright and early to load up and load out to Camp ReaLife. We’ll be there Monday-Friday for a unique time of God-focused, joy-filled energy and excitement. But my prayer is for something much more long-lasting than a fun week, and I know it’s your desire as well. So while we are at camp, please go to the Lord each day and ask Him for these things specifically:
- Safety in travels going to and from Camp ReaLife.
- The work of the Spirit through the preaching and through honest, meaningful conversations with our youth leaders
- Safety for all campers and strength for the camp leaders during the week
- Changed hearts and lives returning from camp by the power of God and His Word
Camp doesn’t change hearts, but God does through the gospel. Join us in support through your prayers, and may God get all the glory. Here we go!

Coming Soon

VBS 2023 - July 17th-21st

This year from July 17th to 21st we will once again be holding our VBS for kids from preschool all the way up to 5th grade! Our theme is Kingdom Keepers, where the kids will learn about how to put on the full armor of God. It will be a fun week of worship, games, snacks, crafts, and more!
We are currently looking for volunteers to help us make this a memorable week for the kids. There are a variety of ways to get involved and use your gifts and abilities, from snacks, to game time, to being a leader or assistant to a specific age group of kids, and more.
If this is something you would like to do, please use the button below to register for volunteering, or reach out Jessie Rector, our Children's Director, at jessie@cornerstone.place.
Thank you!
